The Former Life of Amber Valley recounts the story of black Americans who started travelling north as early as 1905 to settle Alberta’s undeveloped land. In some of the harshest conditions imaginable, these pioneers established five predominantly Black communities, including Amber Valley, 100 km north of Edmonton. The Former Life of Amber Valley was voted Best Non-Fiction Web Program or Series by Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
