Building on the methods successfully deployed for the launch of our documentary Painkiller: Inside the Opioid Crisis, Spotlight will stage public screenings and panel discussions across Canada in 10 major urban centres — and communities close to the residences of participants in the documentary so that they may take part in the events.
Not only will these events create important conversations on the subject and motivate grassroots activists in those
markets, screenings are an opportunity to attract media attention. We expect the involvement of Carol Todd in our
film will yield even more interest.

NATIONAL will design and develop a simple, easy to navigate landing page website to promote Dark Cloud. The functionality and content will be fairly simple (collection of resources such as links to view the film, local screening dates, social media integration and contact info), but will be a great online home for the documentary—a destination for both traditional and social media traffic to generate views and provide information about the film. NATIONAL’s digital team
will prioritize SEO while NATIONAL’s team of pay per click specialists can design affordable paid search campaigns to help users find the site easily.

Distribution Platform Support
Each partner has robust marketing teams prepared to promote the film on TELUS Optik On Demand and @TELUS Digital, and have committed to promoting the film on their internally controlled social media accounts. They have also vowed to support our screening tour with additional personnel and publicity from within their organizations wherever possible. TELUS Optik has committed to paying for the creation of assets to promote its availability on the platform — such as booking ad avails and commissioning artwork to showcase it alongside their Hollywood content.
